Presidents Blog - January 2024
When I joined this wonderful organisation five years ago, I used to think “why do we not have much going on in January and February?”. It didn’t take me long to work this out.
The months leading up to Christmas are such a busy time for our members. We have the Bonfire, which is a massive organisational challenge, followed by almost 3 full days of work for many members of our club. Last year we also added the new Pumpkin Lantern competition on 30th October. Then we are ticket selling for the Tesco Trolley Dash, organising the Over 85’s Christmas Party then wrapping up to spend 9 evenings and 4 days out with Santa and the Sleigh during December.
The fundraising events during December raised over £8000 for the Club, all of which is returned in grants to support many deserving causes.
We arrive in January and our wonderful Lions and the many Lions friends who help us to deliver all these events, are ready for a well deserved rest.
So, what will 2024 bring from Filey Lions. We hope you will enjoy all our usual events, plus a few little changes here and there. Keep an eye on the Website events page and our Social media to see what is coming up.
Wishing everyone health and happiness in 2024
